How has God been faithful to you this year?
Sometimes it is so hard to see God’s faithfulness as we live through the motions of our various moments, but then as I think through the past moments of my life, I see his hand and immense faithfulness in all of it.
When we put our trust in Jesus, his love is steadfast love and has an unwavering hold on our lives.
He will be your God through all of it.
He is faithful in the big moments, and the small ones. He is faithful to the desires of our hearts, even in the waiting.
I have done so much waiting throughout my life. I wrote the first draft of this years ago, while sitting in quarantine in France, with no friends or family near me. That year was full of waiting, and it was full of unknowns. It was a time in my life when I had to learn how to trust in God’s faithfulness above my understanding.
I still have a lot of waiting to do and a lot of unknowns. There are so many things in this waiting that I have not seen the final results of, but my God is in the waiting, because he is the God of fulfilled promises.
He sees the desires which he has implanted in our hearts and He paves the way. In his faithfulness he begins healing our wounds and our brokenness. In the waiting he has begun the breaking of myself so I could learn his faithfulness.
In his faithfulness he breaks our desires to be in line with his desires, even if in the pain we cannot see it. This is what it means to break us for him. In his faithfulness we can trust in the beauty of every aspect of our lives.
In the joy, the pain, and the unknowns, there is beauty because our God is faithful to His promises.
There are many times I have allowed my mind to sabotage itself of the joy which God intends for me to live in. As humans, we all do this. We see the difficult times that we live through, and refuse to see God in it.
It is in these times loneliness creeps in and says that it is greater than the God that we serve. Yet in these times God is patient with us. Slowly he creeps back into our lives. He gives glimpses of the gifts he has given us and the things he plans for us. He is patient as we slowly turn our hearts back to him, letting go of the thoughts that sabotage our minds.
I think this is something we all struggle with.
It has to do with that act of surrendering our wills.
To do so, we have to trust that he is faithful in his patience with us.
Oh, how our God is patient is his faithfulness to us.
It is when we let go of ourselves that we begin to see God unfolding our unknowns into knowns.
We begin to recognize his masterful orchestration of our lives into a beautiful symphony of worship to him. Despite our stubborn hearts, God is faithful in his promises.
I am completely in awe of my God’s faithfulness.
